Conciliation Conferences at the Tribunal
The Tribunal will usually order that the parties participate
in a Conciliation Conference to see if the complaint can be resolved
without proceeding to a Final Hearing.
Conciliation Conferences are conducted by a specialist Tribunal conciliator, the Registrar of the Tribunal or one
of the Tribunal Members.
Conciliators do not make a decision about the complaint. Their role is to facilitate discussions between the
parties about resolving the complaint.
The discussions in the Conciliation Conference are confidential. The parties cannot tell a Tribunal Member
what was said in the conference and the conciliator cannot tell a Tribunal Member what was discussed.
