Resources for LGBTI people
Vision for fair and equal treatment
The quality of democratic life in Queensland is improved by an educated community appreciative and respectful of the dignity and the worth of LGBTI people. To this end, the Commission has produced a number of resources.
- A clear message YouTube: The 2002 amendments to the Act to include gender identity and sexuality as attributes sent a clear message that discrimination against, and vilification of, LGBTI (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Intersex) Queenslanders would not be tolerated.
- Trans*@Work: A guide for trans* employees, their employers and colleagues.
- Gender identity discrimination and vilification brochure;
- Sexuality discrimination and vilification brochure;
- Gender identity case studies;
- Sexuality case studies;
- Vilification case studies.
The Commission recognises that all people should be equal before and under the law, and have the right to equal protection and equal benefit of the law without discrimination on the basis of gender identity and sexuality.
To achieve this goal the Commission makes submissions to parliamentary inquiries, government departments and law reform bodies on matters affecting human rights. The following table provides links to those submissions that relate to LGBTI issues.
