Training Calendar for July to December 2005 in Brisbane

Conducting Equal Opportunity Awareness Raising Sessions

Wednesday 20 July
9.00 am to 1.00 pm
Cost: $135 including GST (to be confirmed) per person

This course has been designed for trainers and those responsible for providing information about discrimination and harassment issues to people in the workplace. It offers suggestions about presentation, ideas for content, and issues for focus. The course is content-based rather than a 'train the trainer' skills session.

Preventing Discrimination and Harassment

Wednesday 24 August
9.00 am to 1.00 pm
Cost: $135 including GST (to be confirmed) per person

This is our introductory course, which provides an overview of anti-discrimination legislation in Queensland including topics such as the grounds and areas of the Act, exemptions, sexual harassment, direct and indirect discrimination, vicarious liability and reasonable steps, and the roles of staff, managers and supervisors. No previous knowledge is required by participants.

'The Contact Officer' (introductory)

Wednesday 21 September OR
Wednesday 26 October
9.00 am to 1.00 pm
Cost: $135 including GST (to be confirmed) per person

This popular course will be offered twice in the second half of the year. Content includes an overview of the law, the impact of discrimination and harassment, the role of the Contact Officer, options for dealing with complaints and case scenario discussion. We recommend attendance at 'Preventing Discrimination and Harassment' as an introduction to this course.

'The Contact Officer' (advanced)

Wednesday 23 November
9.00 am to 1.00 pm
Cost: $135 including GST (to be confirmed) per person

A pre-requisite for this course is attendance at the introductory session. We include a short review of the first course, plus issues of record-keeping, vicarious liability, duty of care, confidentiality, hallmarks of a good investigation process and quality control. The course is delivered using a six-part case study as the basis for discussion in small groups. Participants are also encouraged to read their organisation’s policy before attending.
