"Whats Sex Got to Do with It?"
"CCH Equal Opportunity Training Kit" by
Lawrence Fong and Joan Napoli with the CCH editorial
team. North Ryde, c1996.
The kit comes in a convenient carry case and
consists of the Manual, 4 booklets on workplace issues,
an audio CD and a computer disk.
It has been designed to provide workplace education
on EEO and meet the training needs of a wide range of
organisations. The format is modular, allowing the
presenter to pursue an in-depth approach, or a general
overview.
The Manual is the core component of the kit. In ring
binder format it contains the following modules: Equal
Employment Opportunity & the Law; Countering
Workplace Harassment; The Best Person for the Job; Fair
Termination Practices; Effective Grievance Handling.
Overhead transparency masters and samples of policies in
the area of EEO, affirmative action, workplace
harassment, family responsibilities and grievance
handling procedures complete the hard copy manual.
An audio CD gives background to the Manual, outlines
contents of the modules, gives practical tips and ideas
as well as suggested answers for commonly asked
questions.
The sample policies from the Manual are also
provided on computer disk.
Handouts and case studies are provided for each
module, and a general index allows access to concepts
across modules.
CCH advise that because of its loose-leaf format it
is planned to be updated to ensure its continued
usefulness. It is available for purchase from CCH for
$425.
"Managing Diversity" comprises a 15 minute video with
leaders guide.
The video highlights the implications for business of not recognising the
benefits of a diverse workforce.
Narrated by Indira Naidoo, the program traces
changes from an industrial to an information society, and
uses three case studies to look at the attributes of
sexuality, sex and race.
Available from Video Communicators for $595 plus $10
postage.
