Launch of "Moving Forward" textbook

The Anti-Discrimination Commissioner Karen Walters is pleased to have the Commission’s textbook "Moving Forward: Students and Teachers against Racism" officially launched by the Minister for Education, Anna Bligh, today.

Eminent Indigenous spokesperson Ms Jackie Huggins will also participate in the launch alongside Professor Allan Luke of the Graduate School of Education of the University of Queensland and Dr John McCollow of the Queensland Teachers Union. The traditional welcome to country will be given by Mr Herb Bligh, Chair of the Brisbane Council of Elders.

"It is wonderful to see all of the peak stakeholders uniting to combat racism in school communities" Commissioner Walters said.

"The transformation of the Commission’s report into a practical text is far more than I had hoped to achieve. I hope it finds its way into every primary and secondary school throughout the State" Commissioner Walters said.

The textbook "Moving Forward" can be purchased at the official launch today or through Eleanor Curtain Publishing, 906 Malvern Road, Armadale Vic 3143, Phone: 03 9822 0344.
